A lot of women today are afraid to do strength training
because they fear that they are going to be huge like men. They believe that too much exercise would
make them huge and that is something that they won’t like since that isn’t attractive
at all to the opposite sex. Well,
actually women shouldn’t fear getting huge muscle since they don’t have enough testosterone
to develop those muscles. Their body would
just be slender and would look good in a dress.
Strength training benefits for Women
- It helps to increase the bone density. The bones and muscles are alike since both of them are living organism. They can adapt to almost anything and when that happened, they would be stronger than before.
- Those women, who are into strength training, would feel the benefit since their pelvic-girdle muscles and the adductor and abductor thigh muscles, preparing it to bore children.
- As women get stronger, they also gain self-confidence. Not only that, they also look good with those tight muscles that they have, especially in this world wherein, the world is dominated by men.
- Strength training improves the posture, thus, women can look better.
Should
Strength Training for a Woman be different from that of Man?
- Fitness experts do recommend that women should perform more repetitions because of the physiological aspects (hormones profile and neuromuscular activation levels). Say, if a man should perform around 8 – 12 repetitions, a woman should do around 10 – 14 repetitions. Other than that, by doing strength training, woman can also get the same benefits that a man gets
- Weight training for women should also be change week after week to get the most benefit from strength, muscle hypertrophy, and explosive (plyometric) routine so they can progress a lot better in strength training.
- Another concern would be the sport-related injuries since they believe that they are more prone to injuries compared to that of a man. The truth is that there is no evidence that they are more prone to injury. Women are a lot stronger and less fragile than you think.
